COMPLETE DENTURE

At Durham Denture Clinic, we carefully fabricate our dental prosthesis in our laboratories to ensure maximum comfort and precision. We have a deep desire to offer you a bright, comfortable and lasting smile. From the first meeting we make sure to understand your needs and answer your questions.  A complete denture replaces all of the natural teeth of the upper jaw and / or lower jaw. It is removable because it is not retained by any structure (unlike implants) and relies on the gum. The denture is made of acrylic resin. The teeth of the prosthesis mimic your natural teeth and the acrylic imitates the color of the gums.  Our dentures are fabricated using quality materials that can serve the most complex of situations whether it is a patient with little gum, an unusual bite or a custom denture. We have the instruments and tools necessary to give you a complete prosthesis that combines comfort, aesthetics and ensures you a most natural smile allowing you to eat, laugh and talk normally.  In addition, at the insertion date, we will make sure that your new denture is adapted to your jaw’s specificity. We will work together so that you find a natural smile that you will be proud of.

PARTIAL DENTURE

A removable partial denture is a dental prosthesis for partially edentholous patient who desires to have replacement teeth for functional or aesthetic reasons and who cannot have a bridge for any reasons, such as a lack of required teeth to serve as support for a bridge or financial limitations.

1)cast partial denture:

A Cast Partial Denture is a removable partial denture consisting of a cast metal framework that contains artificial teeth set in an acrylic resin. As compared to conventional acrylic denture, Cast Partial Denture is stronger, more durable and retentive. However, the fabrication of cast partial denture is more costly, time-consuming and complex as compared to the conventional acrylic dentures.

2)acrylic partial denture:

Acrylic partial dentures consist of replacement teeth that are set in acrylic resin. To aid the retention of the denture, one or more wire clasps are placed around the natural teeth in the mouth.

If some of the remaining natural teeth need to be extracted at a later date, additional false teeth can be added to an acrylic partial denture. This type of partial denture is much quicker to make than the cast partial denture.

IMPLANT OVERDENTURE

Do you want to restore the feeling of real teeth? At Durham Denture Clinic, we offer denture implants to return the natural feel of the mouth. We work cooperatively with your local dentist’s treatment plan to give you the best denture and implant combination possible. Implants are a very good option for those who are missing an entire row of teeth and/or lower gums and often decrease gum irritation and discomfort. Implants are small titanium fixtures which are placed in the jawbone through surgery. The dentures that are placed over them are done in different ways: 1)Locator Supported Denture: Clips into the locators in your jaw (usually the lower jaw)2) Bar-Supported Denture: A bar is screwed into the implants, then the denture clips into the bar (removable by patient)

SOFT LINER

Soft liners are used to increase chewing comfort in new or existing dentures. Soft liners are bonded to the surface of dentures and rest on the oral tissues. The soft liner acts as a shock absorber between the hard plastic denture base and sensitive oral tissues covering the jaw ridges. If you are suffering with denture sore spots, come see us to talk about how a soft liner may help you.

Reline or Rebase

Over time your mouth and dentures undergo inevitable changes.  Relining consists of adding new base (pink) material to the tissue side of a denture to ensure a snug fit. Your Denturist will need to take an intra-oral impression inside your existing denture to complete the reline.  Relining affects only the fit of your denture and will not change the appearance or address any wear of the denture teeth. Relines are required when tissue changes occur due to resorption (shrinkage) which can be due to:

Loss of weight
Loss of teeth
Loss of bone/tissue
Disease or illness

We offer same day service for relines to minimize the amount of time you are without your dentures.

SAME DAY REPAIR

We offer same day service for repairs to minimize the amount of time you are without your dentures. All lab work in done in our onsite laboratory. Never attempt to repair or alter your dentures yourself. Improperly repaired dentures (with Krazy Glue) will not last long and may cause irritation due to the poor fit and have an adverse effect on your overall health.

Repairs may be required when breakage or damage occurs, when one or more teeth need to be added to an existing denture (due to tooth extraction), or because of wear and tear. Often denture teeth and clasps can be added to existing partial dentures when natural teeth are lost. A proper repair requires addition of new denture base (pink) material to the repair area and may require an intra-oral impression prior to repair. Most repairs can easily be done in one day. If your denture requires a repair, it may indicate underlying problems associated with the age of the denture, worn teeth or poor fit.

IMMEDIATE DENTURES

An immediate denture is an alternative to being without teeth during the initial six to eight week healing period after your natural teeth have been removed. An immediate denture is made prior to the extraction of your natural teeth. We will base the immediate denture upon impressions made of your mouth before your natural teeth are removed, thus providing a denture solution that can give you a more natural look from day one. Your new “immediate” denture is inserted immediately after your teeth have been removed, thus avoiding the need to go a day without teeth. Immediate dentures protect sensitive tissues after natural teeth have been removed. This allows healing progress while keeping the gums free of debris that might cause irritation. Immediate dentures can help you transition from eating soft foods to a wider variety of food during the healing process.
